Growing up in the Midwest, I became accustomed to beautiful lush green summers with fresh, seasonal fruit and the more than occasional rain shower. Humidity was not in short supply and paper thin dresses were key to escaping the heat. When I moved to LA, I had to change around a lot of my wardrobe for the summer months as the desert climate brought hot, dry days and cool, breezy nights.
I’m sure many of you know this already, but layering is the key here. Adding a sweater to lightweight tanks and shorts bring a summer outfit right into the evening…and can also make an otherwise out together outfit look dumpy. Layering in monochromatic tones and shades whites are a great option, as this will continue the color story of your outfit and keep everything looking intentional. As sweaters have a tendency to look wintery (obviously), looking for cotton blends in light colors help brighten an outfit while still keeping you cool as well!
