I’ve been an all around hermit crab this week. Leaving my house only to walk 15 feet to grab a coffee at our new neighborhood spot, I have spent the last 72 hours cleaning and organizing our new place (which is AMAZE by the way!) So when my photographer, Ashley, and I decided to shoot some looks in DTLA this weekend, it was a very welcome excursion.
Over the last few weeks, I have found myself being attracted to different pieces than my normal (basic) favorites. Flowing white blouses and high waisted shorts have become more of my staples. To be honest, I’ve even noticed my taste within decor shifting into a more minimal, rustic vibe mirroring the whites and browns that are slowing starting to find a home in my closet. I will never abandon my classic denim ways, but it’s been really fun to play with new colors and textures heading into summer.
So. The cropped blouse. It’s become a staple in every designer’s Spring/Summer line, as higher waisted shorts and midi skirts show face as the forefront of this season’s trends. The key in avoiding a matronly look is opting for a style with a lot of structure and details that are slightly unexpected. The Banana Republic one I’m wearing has those killer wide sleeves and a low button down front in crisp white (It’s also 40% off right now…so, I mean, it doesn’t get much better). Button it all the way up with a pair of skinny jeans for a funky, men’s tailored shirt vibe.
