I love the look of leather skirts, as it can add an unexpected twist to an otherwise simple outfit. There are so many variations out there-long, short, fitted, midi, a-line-you can be sure to find something that works great for your body. I picked up this Rachel Zoe piece when I was living in New York a few years back and have found it’s the staple in my closet I go to when “I don’t have anything to wear”. Yes, we all go through that.
I am the farthest thing from a preppy dresser, however, I do love the look of layering sweaters over button downs. The key is mixing up the bottom, like with leather or ripped denim, to balance out the top and add a little personal flare. If you need to dress up a bit more for the office, find a leather skirt that’s more of a pencil, knee length style and tuck in the bottom of your shirt. This creates shape in your waist and tailors the look. As always, colored shoes are a great way to add some life to your outfit as well!
