I often hear from my friends that it’s hard to dress for brunch that will most likely turn into dinner, especially during the summer months. The brunch culture in LA (and big cities in general) is ON POINT and quite a lifestyle, not just reserved for Sundays.

To wear heels or not to wear heels? Is it a dress only type of place? I’m guessing most of you reading this asked yourself this question last week an hour before you were supposed to meet your friends. You guys, here is my rule of thumb: pair an everyday, casual piece (like my vintage tee in this look) with something more “dressy” (like a blazer and heels) and you’re covered no matter what. I love putting “gritty pretty” pieces together for an unexpected change to an otherwise, could be, boring floral dress.

But, really, anything goes! Wear what you’re comfortable in and will continue to be comfortable in throughout the day. If a place calls for more formal attire and you’re just not feeling it, put on a silk blouse with some ripped denim and pointed toe flats and you’re set. Gritty pretty pairings keep your look fresh and unique, yet still super comfy.
