One of my favorite things about college (there were many) was the ease at which one was able to study abroad, almost anywhere in the world. I spent my semester in the Middle East, visiting family and stuffing my belly with more hummus and falafel than an average human should have in a lifetime. I took a summer semester, in large part, so I was able to visit my other friends wherever they were during the year.
One of my closest friends was a Romance Languages major, and as such, she was to study abroad TWICE (not fair) in two different places through the course of college which meant I was able to visit her twice (very fair) in both of those places during school breaks. I spent an amazing 5 days with her in Spain one year followed by a beautiful, inspiring week in Paris the next.
Visiting Paris was a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I used to fantasize about drinking little cups of espresso on narrow streets with good friends in fabulous clothing. We’d wander the streets chatting and get home just as the sun was setting. It seemed so perfect. So, as I’m sure you can image, I tried to recreate this vision whilst in Paris. And, did we ever.
We toured the city via macaron shops, tasting all of the best pastries in the city while seeing the sites. We saw all the major “must see” places but I had a particular one on my list: Christian Louboutin. I had been lusting over a pair of red bottom heels for years and what better place to get them than in Paris? I remember sitting on the velvet red couch, slipping these perfect little pumps on and to honest, haven’t wanted to take them off since. They are timeless and something I will treasure alongside my Paris memories forever.
