New York City I love you but you sure are frigid right now…
You guys, I won’t even lie to you. It was FREEZING. The entire week I was there. At first it was actually nice to breathe in a deep breath of cool air into my lungs, however, after walking around for a few hours my cheeks were starting to turn red with windburn. I thought I’d be okay as I lived the very large majority of my life in the Midwest, but this was next level. We ended up taking Ubers and cabs most places even though I will be a committed subway rider to my death. I know it’s dirty and ultimately “not glamorous”, but there is something so cool to me about public transportation. (Los Angeles, take some notes.) In a weird way, maybe it’s the connection you feel to those around you. Bringing (forcing) people together in a common area, all bound together by their hustle to get from one place to another. Take a moment to look around next time you’re on a metro or a subway. If nothing else, you’ll get some cool people watching stories to tell your friends. Anyway, this trip was just too cold to wait in the lower subway levels.
Speaking of cold, I’m sure most of you are reading this post thinking, “why on this green earth is she whining about the cold temperatures, when she’s prancing around the city in heels and a spring jacket?!” Confession: This look was burrowed most of the day under a large, puffy down jacket and a will admit, I switched out this heels for warm leather boots to walk around. BUT! There is something elegant about wearing heels in New York City and I was committed to get the full look on the blog. Plus, the luxury of taking cabs was I could wear them out to dinner and not worry about loosing a toe to frostbite. I paired these timeless nude pumps with my standard ripped demin and cool mirrored aviators to bring a little SoulCal to NYC.
Stay tuned for my NYC photo diary and some live time shots from my Instagram coming soon!
