This past week has been a little stormy, especially for Los Angeles. Both Friday and Saturday were heavy with dark, ominous clouds that reminded me of summer storms in Michigan. On Sunday, however, we saw the skies part and open up to the beautiful Southern California sunshine. Obviously, I needed to celebrate with a cappuccino and little shopping with friends.
I love the little stores up and down 3rd street in West Hollywood and had been meaning to check out the Anine Bing showroom for some time. A lot of my favorite stylists and close friends have been wearing her pieces for a while and I must admit, I am a late player to this game. I walked into her chic, white showroom and was instantly greeted with a display of short ankle booties and an array of fine gold jewelry. It was love at first site. (As a fun twist, I attended Julie Sarinana of Sincerely, Jules pop-up shop this weekend and met Anine while wearing this t-shirt and jeans. Perfect timing much?)
Her collection, with its variety of washed and ripped denim paired with silk dresses and slinky lace bras was almost too much to handle. And then I went into the dressing room. You know you’re in some deep kind of trouble when every single thing that you put on your body fits like a glove. As a small framed girl with not a lot of curves, it’s hard to find “oversized” tops that don’t eat my body and denim that fits my waist as well as my SoulCycle addicted tush. Everything from the cut of her boyfriend jeans to her deep v-neck tees, Anine Bing got it so, so right. Femine and tailored yet still a bit edgy. Check her stuff out you guys, you won’t just be going to 3rd street for Joan’s On Third much longer.
As a side note, Anine also writes a cute and cheeky blog that I love to follow: aninesworld.com
